Milk lawyers told to back off
Milk lawyers told to back off 2:10
China tells lawyers helping parents of sickened babies to stop helping. CNN's Kyung Lah reports.
((it's a video so I can't quote it...suffice to say a chinese lawyer is interviewed by chinese authorities who tell him stop helping the victems of milk poisoning OR ELSE , in a country where jail , involintary organ donation , and the death sentence for even trivial matters are common ))
There are very serious consequences for getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
There are even worse consequences for doing everything in your power to cover it up , while protecting those who committed the crimes in the first place, thus effectively announcing to the world "We'll do what ever the heck we please, poison whatever the heck we please , and there's nothing you can do to stop it !"
Consequence number one is I'm not buying anything chinese every again. They're deliberately poisoning us. And then laughing at us when they get caught.
Consequence number two is that I'm writing my prime minister and demanding that anything from china , especially food , anything that has any kind of chinsese food additive of any sort , be labled accordingly. So that I can properly avoid these hateful buggers that think they can just poison who they like without a car
e in the world.
The cookies in that cookie jar make you sick. We don't want them, anymore. So , feel free to put your grubby disease ridden hand in that cookie jar all you want now, mainland china. I'm tossing my chinese cookies out. And I aint buying anymore.

We need Money !!!!!!
Recovering from today’s disgrace
David Gergen
AC360° Contributor
CNN Senior Political Analyst
CNN = A very large business organization. And there for a proponent of big business getting whatever it likes, like money.
Senior Political Analyst = Making politicians give CNN what CNN wants.
The financial markets have sent a clear signal of just how reckless the House of Representatives was today in rejecting the compromise bailout plan — no less than $1.2 trillion in stock values were wiped out in just a few hours.
Big Business lost money !!!!!
What can be done to get a bill through in the next few days? Here are some initial thoughts:
First, a ton of bricks needs to be dumped on the heads of those who voted against —
THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME MONEY !!!! THEY MUST BE HORRIBLY PUNISHED !!!!
Third, the White House and Congressional leaders should count heads to make sure that everyone who voted “yes” today will do so again in a second vote. If the 228-205 margin holds, that means they have to flip at least 12 Members for a second vote. It will be much more difficult to get all of the switches from the Republicans. Solution: put in enough sweeteners so that each side has a bit more and get an agreement between Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner: “I will deliver 6 from my side if you deliver 6 from yours.”
THEY MUST ALL VOTE TO GIVE US MONEY !!! NOTHING ELSE IS ACCEPTABLE !!!
This is big time stuff. Washington isn’t playing with matches here; it is playing with dynamite. For the sake of the country — and for our standing as a world power — we need LEADERSHIP!
I WANT MY MONEY !!!! 23 GRAND FROM EVERY MAN WOMAN AND CHILD FROM AMERICA !!! MY MONEY ! NOT THEIRS ! MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE !!!!!!!!!
Umm.. I'm sorry , but this article may be somewhat prejudiced ?

Punishing Copyright Violators : IE: Record Industry Extortion
article = none , personal opinion
I have a wonderful idea.
I'm gonna sell vinyl records, and they're gonna have 24 songs each. And I'm gonna collect twelve dollars a pop for them. How about that ?
Ok, there's this thing called a tape cassette recorder that can record the sound and people can make illicit copies of those songs without paying for it.
Yeah , but the sound quality sucks. No worries, no one with money in their pocket is going to listen to their favorite tune filled with static, only young kids without a dime in their pocket do that.
years pass. Vinyl is replaced with CD's , and computers can now make digitally perfect copies.
I have a great idea. Lets make all these songs play only in certain approved devices and nothing else ? How about that ?
No. I have a better one. Lets Let them copy those songs like crazy, then start sueing them and extorting money like heck from them. That would be much more profitable.
You're kidding me !
In fact , now that we have these mp3 players and memory sticks and stuff ? Lets demand money for every single copy. So ...one for the cd itself , one for the one on the computer, one for the mp3 player, oh your wife has an mp3 player too ? Pay for her copy as well. So now we charge for 4 copies. And we only had to bother to manufacture one cd. I love this scheme !
Oh , and lets bribe some senators to alter the copy right laws so that you can't play your music in public or in doctors offices or anything or we fine the heck out of you.
And lets sell you copies on your cell phone as well, I love cell phones, because when the cell phone dies, we can declare the song non transferable. You have to buy another copy on your next cell phone.
So ... when did I have to keep pay and pay and pay to listen to my fave tunes ?
Oh , about last year.
Do the artists get any of this money ?
Not a single dime.

House Rejects Bailout Package, 228-205; Stocks Plunge
Article
WASHINGTON — In a moment of historic import in the Capitol and on Wall Street, the House of Representatives voted on Monday to reject a $700 billion rescue of the financial industry. The vote came in stunning defiance of President Bush and Congressional leaders of both parties, who said the bailout was needed to prevent a widespread financial collapse.
Umm...7 000 000 000 000 divided by 300 000 000 tax payers = 23,333$ for every man woman and child in america.
So, when americans were told "Give me 23 grand , each , or else [insert random financial bibble babble here]" they responded with their middle fingers.
Good for them !
This bail out is a sham from the get go. Who's responsible for stealing all of those houses from all of those consumers in the first place ? You refuse to answer that question , you refuse to even look into it , but you want the sheep you've already fleeced clean to now cough up another twenty three grand on top of it all ! Each !
No one trusts you anymore. And rightly so. If you're not going to do something constructive, like say fix the problem , punish the guilty , making sure it never happens again , making those sob's give the money back , things like that , then you need to just go away and quit annoying people.
The former Treasury Department official who predicted another House vote this week said that before there could be another vote, he would expect Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat, and Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the Republican minority leader, to approach members with seats in safe districts and tell them, in effect: “You’ve got to do this. The fate of the country hangs on your vote.”
The fate of the country lies in stringing you up from the nearest tree with a noose rather than let you BUTT FUCK THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD a second time. Thats what the fate of the country lies in.
What kind of asses are you fools ? "We screwed up. Give us 23 grand, each , so we can try it again. And no, you're never getting that money back. And you're still bankrupt. Don't default on that over priced high interest mortgage we screwed you into taking out in the first place. And no , I know we gave you that money to get a house, and you bought a house in good faith , but you're not getting that house back. You must continue to live out of your car."
But you did , however , accomplish one thing.
Supporters vowed to try to bring the rescue package up again as soon as possible, perhaps late Wednesday or Thursday, but there were no definite plans to do so
DON'T LOWER THE PRICES ON THOSE TOXIC HOUSES YET YOU MAY STILL GET EVERY LAST PENNY WE'RE GONNA TRY AGAIN !!!!
And so america is consigned to living out of their cars for a little while longer while you try one more time to get A HUGE HONKING TON OF BLOOD from a tiny already exhausted little pebble left out in the cold with no home. You can't give up on getting seven thousand million dollars that quick can you ? Seven thousand new millionaires ? Every member of congress, every lobbiest , every big business chairman , they all get a cool million. Just need to cooperate a little longer ..just a little longer ....
You want a solution to this manufactured problem ? I'll give you a solution.
Take all those over priced houses and start renting them out to the guys living in parking lots , at rates they can afford, and accept your losses instead of trying to sell them at their current five times what they're really worth and having no one live in them and collecting no money from them.
How about that for a solution ?

Breakthrough reached on $700B U.S. bailout: Pelosi
Article
The plan would spend up to $700 billion US, most of it on buying deeply devalued mortgages from the housing market's collapse and other bad loans held by tottering banks and other investors.
You must understand the esoteric dynamics of the free market economie. Or , in laymans speak, SIMPLE UNFETTERED GREED !!!
DON'T LOWER THOSE PRICES ON THOSE HOUSES YET UNCLE SAM IS GONNA BUY THEM AT A PERCENTAGE SO THE HIGHER WE KEEP THEM THE MORE MONEY WE GET !!!!!
And to heck with the fact that no one can afford to rent any place right now because you've driven the rental prices so high.
What the us government really needs to do is cut these people lose and let the pack of greedsters simply collapse. That will educate them on the necessity of long term thinking. All you're doing now is teaching them to rip anyone off any how and uncle Sam will fix it all up later on and thats when we make our big profit.

Turn to NDP to stop Harper, resurgent Layton says after NDP poll gains
OTTAWA — A resurgent NDP Leader Jack Layton called on voters to flock to him as the only legitimate alternative to the Conservatives after national polls showed the traditional also-ran party closing in on second place.
"Here in B.C., the choice is very clear, if you want to stop (Stephen) Harper only New Democrats can do it," he told a rally in Vancouver.
Vote for me !
Not because I deserve your vote !
Not because I'm in any way smart or talented or qualified for the job !
I may even be the dumbest one of all !
But if you hate that other guy , vote for me !
Yeah... truely a well reasoned argument. I'll pass, thanks.

How to Become a Programmer
Article
Unlike what you might find in some books and articles, programming can not be actually learned in 7, 21 or even 365 days[1]. It is a cumulative process that builds up your skills day after day and year after year. However, programming can also be fun and rewarding (mentally, spiritually and financially). This guide does not promise to give a magical easy way to becoming a programmer, and the ordering of the steps is not sacred, but you'll get a general outline of how to become a programmer in one of the modern programming fields
Step One : Move to India
The truth of the matter is, if you aint fixing something here in the country (whatever country) , then any job that can is being shipped out to low paying countries like china and India. So you can forget about "brain" work , it's all leaving the country. All the western countries.
Learn to fix something thats here. Cars, elevators, computers, whatever. Shipping a physical object to another country for repair is far too pricy. Repair men are the only safe bets for a career these days.
Other "safe" jobs are cashiers and sales men , but these are scum jobs that no one really wants that pay the minimum legally permitted and are not likely to ever see a pay raise.
Medical staff is good, forget about doctors their numbers are too controlled (250 a year) but running an x ray machine or other device, playing nurse and cleaning up "medical" messes, these can't be outsourced and they pay well. Either because they require skill and education , or because they're unpleasant and no body noooooooo body !!! wants to do them so they have to pay a decent salary. (Hey buddy, how'd you like 8$ / hour to wipe some old fogeys bum twice a day ? No ? How about 10 ? 12 ? 15 ? ) And they all require you to be physically present.
We need to ban robots. Last thing we need is some guy in india operating a robot remotely to do this stuff. Then we're really toast. Thats when you start closing the borders and everyone runs their own economy and builds their own stuff.

Who's to Blame for the Bailout Deal's Stumble?
Article
Talk about a manipulated media.
No one wants to know who's responsible for the rich ass banks not getting richer. They want to know who's responsible for the whole mortgage disaster in the first place. who got rich ? who's holding all the houses now (the banks) stuff like that.
But no one asks that question.
I see it on blog entries and on responses to news articles on those sites that permit reader feed back. But I don't see it in the main stream news.
Main stream news sometimes desgusts me. Not for what they print. But for what they scrupulously avoid printing. For the questions they out right refuse to ask. I think bloggers have found their place , at times like this. Bloated businesses that run on selling ads and don't want to hurt the businesses proping them up have long ago lost their impartiality. They no longer serve the public. They no longer serve anything but themselves.

Linux: the girlfriend test
Linux: the girlfriend test
Our writer subjects Linux to the most exacting useability test yet devised: his girlfriend
A fascinating article I'm sure.
I taught my wife how to use computers. eg: WinXP and then Linux. Well... she's a non computer person. I taught her how to use fire fox, thats all she ever uses.
She never noticed when I put the second computer in the living room , and put Linux on it. Fire fox was fire fox. Click and it opens ...enter the same addresses as usual.
Her and a friend were using it, and I said "You realize you're on Linux, not Windows, right ?"
And the response was "So ? It works ? Why should I care ?"
Some how ... I was expecting it to be a harder sell.
2 years on the living room computer. No anti-virus program. No weird tool bars, no slow downs, no crashes, no reformats. No weird pop ups trying to sell you junk have your credit card ready thank you muchly.
I don't let her near my windows machine anymore. Have to be careful of that thing. If you're not careful Bill Gates will get you and screw it all up. And then the pain begins.

The Underdogg speaks
Dion set to unveil Liberal platform
This blog entry is a little odd since I'm not responding to the listed news article from cbc.ca , rather , there are blog like comments at the bottom left by ordinary citizens. This one was left by someone using the handle Underdogg.
I chose him because he belongs to the crowd that likes to use the word "neo-con" a lot and generaly despises the conservatives and thinks they can do no right and Dion can do no wrong.
I don't bother responding to CBC because they filter all of my responses and ignore them, and only guys like this get to post. Someone of a prejudiced point of view for a newspaper, but they are big business , and the "neo-cons" are anti big business arn't they ?

Whaaaa ! Make me prime minister ! I wanna be prime minister ! Thats why I'm running this race !Waaaaaa !
Ha ha. Not tempered by potential political gain indeed.
And the remark about him being non canadian is a remark about how Quebec consider's itself a seperate nation, not about his actual legal citizenship. Answer the question asked , don't make up your own and answer that , thats a straw man argument tactic.
Well put. Neo cons have tried their best to paint Stephane as non Canadian. Conservative mps Tony Clement and Myron Thomson also hold dual citizenship. I don't hear the cons complaining about that. But hey, lying is a part of being a conservative so we shouldn't be surprised.
Your fair and even view of one politician against another is so noted , Underdogg. I'm sure it won't take much to dig up a few promises Stephen Dion made to get here that he didn't fullfill, but I'm equilly sure you'll brush that off as not counting.
Unfortunately, the Canadian electorate does not properly investigate potential political leaders. They vote based on the soundbites. Dion is not a proficient public speaker in english and that is unfortunately what he is judged on rather than on his bold political decisions.
bold political decision ? TAX EVERYONE TO THE HILT ! TAX TAX TAX TAX TAX !!!!
Yeah ...too bold for me , thanks.
It's unfortunate that he is not seen for the potentially good leader he might be as a result of his accent and public speaking difficulties.
Canadians vote for pm on the same basis they voted for their high school leaders. Very sad.
ABC.
Cretian made prime minister despite a heavy accent and a speach impediment (half his mouth was paralized so he could only speak out one side of it) . But the "Neo-Libs" Like Underdogg here conveniently forget that example.

Alabama to link premium costs to workers' health
Article
With obesity levels higher than in any other state except Mississippi, Alabama's insurance board chief William Ashmore and his staff of workplace wellness advocates decided it was time for a change.
We have to do something about all these fat people !
I know. Lets ban all that advertising on TV about how McDogfood meals are good for you and you should eat there three times a day. Don't forget to supersize it !
No ...can't do that. That would hurt big business, this is america , we don't do that here.
I know. Lets run ads on TV describing what exactly is a healthy diet and what isn't , and then let people make up their own minds !
No... can't do that. Every fast food joint and holistic con artist medicine clinic in the country would be up in arms over that and boot us out of office. This is America , we don't do that here.
I know ! Lets open an official weight loss chain of clinics with real dieticians and doctors and everything instead of those con artists that just take your money and blame you for their fraudulent weightloss program failing ! Lets do it for real !
No , we can't do that. Fraudulent weight loss clinics are big business in America , and we don't punish big business here , I believe I already mentioned that.
Dang. I'm out of good idea's.
Ok. How about this ? Lets tax them for being fat and let them figure it out for themselves ?
Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard of.
Well...thats what we have left. I'm out of idea's too. Lets give it a try.
Dion some kind of racist
Attention to North nation-building: Harper
"We cannot win against the Americans, we cannot win against the Russians, and, as I have said, we are too civilized to shoot the Danes." - Stephen Dion
If Stephen Dion is gonna call out the liberals on the mat for making that "Death of a Thousand Cold Cuts" comment , I wanna call him out for making fun of the Danes. That's just rude , insensitive , and probably some kind of racism.

Let me tell you a story about american corporate greed.
Long ago , the Law Makers of America decided that the good people of that country should get mortgages one and all ,and if the banks wouldn't give them one , then the American Government felt it was their duty to back those mortgages and guarentee repayment. Then everyone could own their own houses.
The Banks and mortgage companies looked at this scheme, and saw a chance for extra profit. They would give highly reduced rates of interest for the first two years that anyone could pay, then much higher rates later on that would effectively force the place into bankruptcy. Because if it went bankrupt, the government would pay every penny they were owed , but if it didn't, the people would only pay a pittence in mortgage payments that was hardly worth the trouble. The fact that they were cheating the people out of their homes that the government was giving them meant not a witt to the corporate culture Pigs.
And so time passed. And the two years ran out. And many many MANY mortgages were sold and came due. And all the Mortgage companies and Banks went running to the government saying "It's time for you to pay up now , as you promised."
And now the government is on the hook for 700 Billion dollars.
But no one has any houses to live in.
And they can't afford to buy any Canadian Hockey Skates, or Chinese Silk Scarfs , or eat in fine restaurants anymore. So anyone who's selling anything to the USA suddenly is watching their prime customers suddenly stop buying everything. And so this affects the whole wide world , and not just the Americans.
But some corporate pigs are very rich now.
They would have done better to put the money into a pile and just burned it as heating fuel.
And that is the story of American Capitalism at it's Finest.

Death By A Thousand Cold Cuts
Dion: Ritz must be fired
Liberal Leader Stephane Dion said Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz must be fired for his incompetence managing the listeriosis crisis and a dire lack of sensitivity shown to victims by making wisecracks about the outbreak.
He was making fun of the Maple Leaf company , not any individual ("Death by a thousand cold cuts" was the remark in question). I would too. Another Dion Distortion.
And by the way , I'd fire the minister too. Not for the remark, but for letting all those Health Inspectors getting bamboozled into doing nothing but look at paperwork that says "Yes, we're following the rules" from those factories rather than go out and see for them selves. That's just corrupt to a fair thee well.
I notice Dion is pretty quiet about that part though. When were those paper work rules put into effect ? A Liberal regime I'll bet. Too pro business for the conservitive to pull a stunt like that.
And I notice Dion isn't saying anything bad about any big business's THAT BURIED THE INSPECTORS IN PAPER WORK SO THEY COULDN'T DO THEIR JOBS and caused this mess in the first place. No no no ... only blame my political enemey , no one else ! Definately not my big business friends !
I can smell the corruption from here.

The Ultimate US Rip Off
Some Seek Agency to Buy Bad Debt as Long-Term Answer
WASHINGTON — As the Bush administration has lurched from pillar to post in the financial crisis, some lawmakers and experts were considering a longer-term legislative solution that would create a new agency to dispose of the mortgage-related assets at the core of Wall Street’s woes.
Yet another SOMEBODY GIVE US FREE MONEY rant.
Or is it ?
This touches upon a weird notion I've noticed in American News Media for quite some time now. This notion that all money is a confidence game , nothing more. Confidence is everything or the whole house of card collapses.
Now why , I wonder would they be thinking that ?
Because the US Government controls the cash flow. A fancy way of saying they can PRINT MORE MONEY !!! any time they like.
Ok. I'll print up some money and buy out these bad debts. But not too much , if people catch me printing too much they'll know the american dollar is actually backed up by NOTHING AT ALL !!! instead of thinking it's worth something. So I'll just print up only a little. And the game will continue. The economy won't collapse today. Maybe tommorow , but tommorow isn't my watch , only today.
And everytime they print more money , the US dollar becomes worth a little less. They are taking from everyone who has anything pegged to the US dollar , and collecting by way of dumping these useless mortgages and paying off the lenders.
It's like the whole world economy is one vast lake, and every now and then the americans take a straw and stick it in the lake and sip out just a little more. Every time they print more money , thats what they're doing.
It's a unique position. Everything is pegged to the american dollar , so what are you going to do ? Peg it to something else ? Yeah , we used to peg it to gold, but we found we could make more money if we let it "float" (forgetting that the money you're making is now just blank pieces of paper with nothing backing it up) So it looks great on the accounting books !
Hmph ! It really is a con game.
If I actually had any cash I'd buy gold.
Oops...thats illegal. They already know about that loop hole !
Hmmm......

A Wonderful Dion Type Idea
Dion promises massive funding boost for universities, students
During a campaign stop in Welland, Ont., on Wednesday, Conservative Leader Stephen Harper again took aim at the various programs promised daily by his opponents, calling the level of spending proposed by Dion and Layton "mindboggling."
I have a wonderful Idea.
I will promise to spend billions , because my name is Dion and I know I aint gonna win the next election. And then I will spend the next few years harrassing the conservatives about why aren't they fulfilling my wonderful idea's ? It's perfect really when you think about it.
What could possibly go wrong ?

- I pick up a few extra seats from those suckers who believe it will actually happen.
- I get free ammo to throw at my hated enemey during the next session of parliment
- And no one will actually do such a stupid thing anyways, so there's no risk of it actually happening.
What could possibly go wrong ?
More Microsoft Lies
Microsoft hails open source outreach
Microsoft continued to make its case on Tuesday that it is a friend to open source, listing a number of efforts it has undertaken in spaces ranging from Linux to virtualization and rich Internet application technology.
Yeah , we're a friend of Open Source , honest we are !
But that new document standard we bamboozled you open source guys into accepting , the one thats copy writed to the hilt so only microsoft products can use it and we get to sue anyone else who tries to use this "Standard" ? Yeah , that stays. We're not changing that.
Ottawa debit card fraudster hits Algonquin College cafeteria
More than 20 students at a college in Ottawa found money missing from their bank accounts after a debit card reader at a campus cafeteria was tampered with and then stolen.
Yep yep yep. We had a good run with debit cards. Carry plastic, muggers have nothing to steal because you only got 20 bucks on you. But it's over now. No re-embursment means the only sensible thing to do is the bank machines with the cameras pointing at them all the time , nothing else.
Back to carrying large amounts of cash again.
Oh you can stretch it out a little. Stay out of stores and don't use those tiny small machines that can be carted away by one person. But how long until those go to ? Do you want to be the first victem ?

Dollar Store Milk
Probe finds 20 percent of China milk companies in scandal
SHIJIAZHUANG, China (Reuters) - Twenty percent of Chinese dairy firms probed in the wake of a baby milk health scare have been found to have produced melamine-tainted formula, state media reported on Tuesday.
Dollar Store milk. Cheap as can be and you get what you paid for. Deliberately tainted to pass protien content tests , farmers who don't give a rats behind about anything but making a buck , which is worth a lot in china , and regulators who sweep it all under the rug and you don't hear about nothing for months and months and months ...
And don't forget all those dollar store gew gaws that come pre-broken. Radios that don't work right out of the package, electrical cables that failed ... broken broken broken and still in the original wrapping.
Tell me again why we are in any kind of trade agreement with these fools ? Broken gew gaws and poisoned toothpaste, milk ,and whatever else comes next is not an acceptable price for some companies to turn a few bucks.

Uninhibited Liberal Lies
Leaders trade barbs over economy as markets slide
Speaking in St. John's on Monday, Dion said Canada's economic growth had slipped to among the lowest of the G8 nations under the watch of Harper, who has a "record of economic mismanagement that has not been matched since Brian Mulroney."
He lowered the gst from 7% to 5%, and we didn't run a deficiet during his administration.
I don't know if Dion is out right lying or there's some tiny grain of truth that they're blowing way out of proportion , rather like TV advertising. But it's getting annoying to here this constant diatrabe of falsehoods and distortions. I have no real strong preference of one leader over the other, at least I didn't at the beginning. But now my impression of Dion is LOUD AND DISHONEST !
Does he just make this junk up ? Is there any basis at all for it ?
The Liberal leader said the income tax cuts provided under the Green Shift plan would stimulate the economy in key areas, while Harper's "gimmicks" would pull Canada closer to a recession.
Speaking of gimmicks, how about we promise to cut peoples income tax , unless you live in energy rich alberta ? Those guys we give the screws to and rip them for every penny we can. How about that for a gimmick ?
Are you talking about Harper or are you talking about yourself , Dion ? Because you're the only one with a gimmicky plan that sacrifices some canadians (non quebecers) to benifit others (quebecers, and oh yeah , we let a few others come along for the ride too so it isn't too obvious)

Central Banks move to give more money to the rich
Central banks move to shore up financial system
The European Central Bank [ECB], the Bank of England, the United States Federal Board and the Bank of Canada have all either offered up extra cash for debt-heavy financial service companies to borrow, or relaxed the collateral requirements that would allow these firms to access existing cash from central banks.
What does it mean, "relaxed the collateral requirements" ?
The extra cash part is easy to understand. Oh poor rich bank ! Let me give you some cash ! You don't have to pay it back ever !
Also on Monday, the U.S. Federal Reserve said it would allow mortgage-backed paper to be used as collateral for firms borrowing from the central bank.
Oh I see. All those mortgages that are about to be defaulted on ? You can trade them in for cash and when they default the US taxpayer will take the hit and not you poor little bank backed by all the rich dudes who were promised by the government they wouldn't lose a dime.
The Fed move followed a similar shift by the Bank of Canada last week. Canada's central bank relaxed the type of assets it would accept from financial companies accessing its cash pools.
Whats this ? When did Canada start donating money to rich US citizens ? What idiot dreamed up this plan ? If this is true , it means that not only did this mortgage fiasco take the US taxpayers to the cleaners, it took Canadians too !
I PROTEST ! WHY ARE WE GIVING MONEY TO RICH AMERICANS ! THIS IS STUPID STUPID STUPID !!!!
Lack of due diligence (Yes, another Taser rant)
Article
It reportedly criticized the stun-gun research of the Canadian Police Research Centre (the research arm of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police), finding its reports were not adequately peer-reviewed, lacked important information and included inaccurate data.
.
.
.
The RCMP's willingness to rely on the manufacturer of the weapon for advice in how to deploy it may have been the first instance of poor judgment by the police force when it comes to tasers, but certainly not the last
.
.
.
The coziness of the relationship between Taser International and Canadian police forces has already been made clear - including payments (and stock options) to a researcher at the Canadian Police Research Centre, and sponsorship of police chiefs' conferences over the years (most recently a $25,000 platinum sponsorship of last month's conference).
And thats how americans do business. They purchase their customers, lock stock and barrel. They issue false research about how wonderful their own product is ("...lacked important information and included inaccurate data.") and they just tell you "Trust me ! We know what we're doing , we're not biased !"
This isn't a police force being tricked by a deceitful american company. This is outright corruption.
The RCMP's failure to fulfill its responsibility to objectively assess the impact of the weapons in developing its own policies may well have played a role in the 22 taser-related deaths in the past five years.
And there are 22 dead bodies that need answering for thanks to this corruption.

Liberals promise homeowners $575M in incentives to 'green' homes
Article
And the rich get richer. Certainly poor people don't own houses. You can tell this party only has rich people as members in it.
"We have a plan to help people to adapt, to help especially middle- and low-income Canadians," Dion said.
Umm...how does helping rich people with their houses help middle and low income Canadians ? The article doesn't say. Mr Dion seems to believe that giving free money away to the rich only is good for all.
Dion plan faces a tough sell to voters in B.C. who are already contending with a provincial carbon tax that kicked in on July 1 and added 2.3 cents to the price of a litre of gasoline.
.
.
.
"Aren't we going to take an unfair double hit?" asked one concerned resident.
Dion responded that he would seek to find a solution, noting that he served as intergovernmental affairs minister for eight years and knows how to negotiate with provinces.
Losely translated , "Yep ! You're gonna take a double whacking ! Thanks for voting for us idiot !"
Negotiate with the provinces , yeah right. They're making money off their carbon tax they're not going to give that up. Especially if it turns out to be the opposing party in power. BC is going to get done dirty if you get elected and you know it.

Fannie, Freddie and You: What It Means to the Public

I have a wonderful idea ! Lets ask the greedy pigs who got us into this morgage mess for advice on what to do next ! yeah yeah , that's a great idea !
These people just took the world to the cleaners. What are you doing asking them for advice ? You want to get extra EXTRA cleaned out ?

Tories suggest Dion would reverse popular policies
Article
At a news conference in Ottawa, Lawrence Cannon, incumbent for Pontiac riding in Quebec, and Jason Kenney, incumbent for Calgary Southeast, suggested any move to take away the Tories' $1,200-a-year child-care benefit would hit low-income Canadians.
Unfortunately , when Dion stands around saying it's a bad idea you shouldn't give canadians 1 200 a year ... you are open to such remarks. Too bad.
Allegations of Dion supporting a GST increase is "yet another lie from a party whose leader has allowed the price of gas the pumps to rise 70 cents a litre since the Conservatives took office," Liberal spokesman Mark Dunn said in an e-mail to media Monday.
So... gas prices arn't under the prime ministers control. Even if Dion was prime minister , he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. So this comes under the catagory of "Yet another lie from the leader that (insert lie here)" ?
Sadly , there are those who believe this kind of nonsense. Thats why they keep doing it.

U.S. Rescue Seen at Hand for 2 Mortgage Giants
Article
WASHINGTON — Senior officials from the Bush administration and the Federal Reserve on Friday called in top executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage finance giants, and told them that the government was preparing to place the two companies under federal control, officials and company executives briefed on the discussions said.
And now the final act of this sad sad play comes to a close.
The executives were told that, under the plan, they and their boards would be replaced and shareholders would be virtually wiped out, but that the companies would be able to continue functioning with the government generally standing behind their debt, people briefed on the discussions said.
The share holders of these two companies get the shaft, their stocks become worthless.
Under a conservatorship, the common and preferred shares of Fannie and Freddie would be reduced to little or nothing, and any losses on mortgages they own or guarantee could be paid by taxpayers. Shareholders have already lost billions of dollars as the stocks have plunged more than 80 percent this year.
And the banks get their money in the end. Ha ha. We get paid. Always. No matter what. You wanna get rich ? Invest in the banks. Just not Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac !
It would allow for uninterrupted operation of the companies, crucial players in the diminished mortgage market, where they are now responsible for nearly 70 percent of new loans.
Oh good, the government and the tax payer is now responsible for SEVENTY PERCENT of all new loans in the country. The banks had quite the party , now the tax payer picks up the tab.
It's an evil thing. The Americans flood the market with their cheap stereo's and computers , kill off the local competition so everyone become dependent on them , then they pull a stunt like this and everyone in the world gets the shaft , not just one bumbling incompetant country. These pigs didn't just soak the americans, they soaked everyone in the whole world for every dime they could steal.
Now the americans won't buy anything from anyone , which is why we let them in the door in the first place, because they don't have any houses to live in ! Half of them are living in parking lots and trailer parks because they got taken to the cleaners in this scam , and some lady living in her car in a parking lot isn't going to buy a new scarf from china to took pretty. So much for all those two way trade agreements.
These jerk weeds are in the habit of doing this every what ? Ten years , fifteen years ? We need to seperate from this roller coaster ride of an economy , not get closer ties to it.
We have our own artists you know. Maybe we should make our own TV shows and music video's instead of learning all about american culture and not even our own canadian children knowing about canadian culture ? And we have our own engineers, I have the utmost confidence we can make our own computers and cars and stuff, for local sale only.

Privacy Concerns Over Chrome Omnibox
Article
Wow, this article just went bleep ! and disapeared so fast from my google home page it took me days to find it again. It speaks about the new google sponsored Chrome Browser.
Currently, according to TechNewsWorld, everything you type in the location bar – be it a URL or search query – could be logged, along with your IP address, by Google. You don’t even have to hit enter.
Big brother is watching you.
Who'd have thunk it would be big business instead of corrupt political interests ? George Orwell's 1984 was right in so many ways, and wrong in so many ways ...

Big Business Papers
Article = none , personal opinion
As I sit at the coffee shop drinking my poison I look at the newspaper over the guys shoulder at the next table. It's at the editorial page. Prime Minister Must Keep Word, Conservatives Break Word on Fixed Date Election Promise , and more... and I start to see a pattern.
The Newspapers are big business.
Why is this important you ask ?
The Conservatives get their money from the unions and the average citizen of Canada. The Liberals usually get a check from big business to cover expenses. And this gives them loyalty to those sources. But lately the conservatives snuck in a law to limit election spending and donations, and now big business cannot give the Liberals the huge chunks of money they typically demand to get elected , and so they don't. And we get conservative after conservative government. Because elections are voted on by people , not businesses, and all things being equil people are going to vote for themselves.
Its a sad commentary that you can buy an election with money.
Newspapers are big business, and their doing their darndest to pick on the current government. But the issue is too obscure, no one cares. what does it matter if the date is fixed or not for when you call an election ? The opposition can bring down the house and call an election any time if they thought they could win so it's still not fixed anyways.
The saddest commentary of all is that our so called neutril newspapers, our defenders of truth , are not so neutril after all. They have a vested interest in who wins and are fighting for it.
Call me a dreamer. But just once I'd like to see things go as planned, and not see corruption ringing through out the land as everyone grabs what they can and tells you THE HECK with everyone else.
(Edit : The new laws prohibit unions and businesses from making political donations. Only private individuals, no one else , may contribute to a political party. Found that out later after showing this article to a friend.)

Russia alleges aid for Georgia included weapons
Article
Russia on Monday accused "foreign navy ships" of delivering weapons to Georgia as the European Union met to discuss possible sanctions against Moscow.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said the West would be making a mistake of "historic scope" if it continued to support Georgia.
.
.
.
"If the United States and its allies ultimately opt for the Saakashvili regime, which has not taken any lessons from the recent events regarding South Ossetia ... they will make a mistake of an historic scope," the news agency Interfax quoted Lavrov as saying.
He said Russia would continue taking measures against the Saakashvili administration "to ensure that this regime will never commit evil again."
Ah, the propaganda mill is now at full power. Seed this georgian state with russian loyalists, have them seperate, and then come in and grab all the land when georgia retaliates.
Reminds me of Gemany's invasion of France in world war two , since were on the topic of "mistakes of historic scope" by the way. germany claimed one little province was full of germanic people and so it was their right to go in there and protect them.
Yeah , that didn't work out so well for germany, and I don't think it's going to work out so well for russia either. No one wants a preditor kicking around snapping up pieces of everyones land. That just ticks everyone off.
It feels like they're playing chess, they've carefully calculated all the moves and responses , and know what they're going to do next. Except for the fact that war isn't a chess game, it's a poker game. And no one is guarenteed any victories. Not even the best player of all.
