Half a Percent in Iraq

US to detail 'Iraq victory plan'

story

Not really interested in the details of the victory plan , but at the bottom of the articals it gives some interesting statistics. Since May of 2003 there have been as few as 120 000 troops and a high of 150 000 troops in iraq. In this time , there have been 2100 american casualties.

Hmmm.... So in two years, the enemies in Iraq have only killed 1% of the americans there ? (Less actually) .

Average term of combat service is 6 months ?
In 6 months service in Iraq you have a half a percent chance of getting killed ?

Are these combat figures , or traffic fatality figures ? This isn't a war. I'd personally be deeply embarrased to be an enemey soldier if this is the effect you're having.

Olympic Dopes !

Officials near solution to doping laws for Torino Games

Under Italian law, athletes can face criminal sanctions for doping violations, raising the possibility of police raids in the Olympic Village during the Games, which run Feb. 10-26.

You say that like it was a bad thing. Of course raid them !!!!

Government supervisor Mario Pescante said Tuesday he will confer with International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge this weekend at a European Olympic meeting in Dublin. However, Pescante declined to give details.

So what is the problem here ?
I'll be happy to explain it to you.

You cannot be an olympic level athelete without being doped up to the gills on steroids or other drugs long ago delcared illegal in most western nations. The unaugmented human body just isn't good enough.

No one wants to admit that these atheletes are great because of what comes out of the pharmacy , instead of any kind of natural talent , because they're supposed to serve as examples for our childer , people to look up to and admire, that sort of thing.

Italy has no nonsense laws about such doping. And you can bet your bottom lira that their atheletes don't use any , and their going to raid EVERYONE who beats them in anything , looking for steroids.

And the Olympic people know they're toast if this goes through , thus they're trying to put a stop to any such raids before things get out of hand.

Blah !

My idea is much better.

Drug test who ever wins the gold in anything. Just the gold medal winners, no one else. Simple, cheap , and one heck of a deterrant, since now , if you're a dope user , YOU CANNOT WIN !

But this will never happen. The place thives on druggies and their dealers.

Stupid. Really stupid.

A weird Blog

Whilst I was surfing through the blogs I came across this, ,and I figure it deserves comment , if only because I SOOOOOO disagree with what it says.

http://brightchristians.blogspot.com/

"On (or about) this day in 1918, Joseph Hofer, a Hutterite conscientious objector to military service, after weeks of torture, starvation and inhumane imprisonment, died in Leavenworth prison."

Lets discuss the whole Conscientious Objector thing.

Fact : There are people out there who would like to kill you , rape your wives and daughter , and take anything thats not nailed down.

Fact : Some of these people rule entire nation states.

Fact : Every Nation MUST protect themselves from these criminals. Do do otherwise is to invite painful death to you , your wife, your kids, your neibours... everyone you love or hate.

In light of these three facts, to stand there and say "No , I refuse to fight" , or "No , I refuse to pay my taxes" is in fact a crime. There is an unwritten social contract, you have banded together with these other people of your particular nation for self protection. To say "You go off and fight, I will stay here and not fight" is both arrogant and murderous. You do not support your society ? You should not be part of it. You should not benefit from it.

The creed of "I refuse to fight" is , whether they realize it or not , the same as the creed of "I want you to die in my place" , and it is quite justifiable to evict these people from your particular nation.

Just an opinion, just an opinion.

100 Million Dollar Man Falls

Its about time.
Lost a vote of no confidence, and the Canadians are going to the polls. Election time , Jan 23 , our dearly beloved 100$ million richer prime minister must now face the voters.

Who would I vote for ?

Anyone but The Shifty and Dishonorable Prime Minister Paul Martin.

Whats my favorite political party ?

NDP .

Hmmm... remind me to look up who's the ndp candidtate in my riding....

And the electioneering has already begun. He hasn't even finished Tea with the Governer General at this point (A cerimony that "officially" brings down the government and calls for the election) and the newsies are circling like sharks.

It's not going to be a boring christmas , if nothing else.

Confessions of a Terrorist

Transcript: Confession by accused Jordan bomber

AMMAN, Jordan (CNN) -- The following is CNN's translation of the confession of Saijida Mubarak Atrous al-Rishawi, aired on Jordanian television after she was detained Sunday.

"My name is Saijida Mubarak Atrous, born in the 70s. I am an Iraqi national. I reside in Ramadi.
.
.
.
"My husband detonated his bomb, and I tried to detonate mine but failed.

On the one hand , these muslim terrorists generally will confess at the drop of a hat. I mean , if you're willing to die, you really don't care about jail time , do you ?

On the other hand, obviously prepared statements like this do bring to mind visions of someone standing just off camera with a club or something , beating this confession out of her. It's an image hard to shake , really.

Confessions like this just plain suck. I don't believe it , just on general principles. I don't believe it when some middle eastern country puts it up on TV as something their cops have done , and heck , even when the canadian cops try such a stunt I don't believe it either.

Who knows...maybe they got the right person after all ?

Or maybe they picked up some vagabond off the street and beat her within an inch of her life to make her say this.

I really get a bad feeling about such "confessions". Really.

U.S. president stumps for free trade proposal

U.S. president stumps for free trade proposal

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) -- President Bush acknowledged Sunday that he had more work to do to persuade Brazil of the value of a vast proposed free-trade zone for the Western Hemisphere.

Wow.

I guess the part where you didn't like the way the free trade deal went in canada's favor, so you decided to totally ignore it and say "tough luck , we aint doing that even if we did agree to it" must really be stinging now. (NAFTA , lumber dispute, council ruled in canada's favor and the USA decided to simply ignore that)

I wonder what Brasil will do when you promise them something and then decide to stick it to them when it comes time to deliver ?
